Target Audience
This educational activity is intended for oncologists, urologists and other medical professionals who assess, treat and counsel patients with bladder cancer.
Educational Objectives
Following completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Assess appropriate use of systemic chemotherapy in the management of muscle invasive bladder cancer.
- Assess optimal approaches to treating superficial bladder cancer, including BCG + interferon and addressing patients who fail BCG therapy.
- Integrate this information into their practice of treatment and patient counseling.
Educational Need
Physicians who manage and counsel patients with bladder cancer need to assess and integrate into their practice of treatment and patient counseling: (a) the current framework for assessing appropriate use of systemic chemotherapy for muscle-invasive disease and (b) optimal approaches to treating superficial bladder, particularly for BCG-resistant disease.
