Inhibitor Treatment in Hemophilia A and B

This multidisciplinary international consensus conference was directed by Dr. Erik Berntorp, University of Malmo, Sweden and Dr. Amy Shapiro, Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center.

The educational objectives for this program were to: discuss new data on inhibitor biology as it relates to the development of inhibitors to Factor VIII and IX; evaluate appropriate approaches to the diagnosis and characterization of inhibitors to Factor VIII and IX; assess opportunities to reduce incidence and complications related to inhibitors; assess appropriate treatment approaches to acute bleeds; and discuss alternative approaches to immune tolerance induction. The program was supported by educational grants from industry. Program management and CME sponsorship were provided by InforMEDical.

The proceedings were published as a peer-reviewed CME supplement to the journal Haemophilia Vol 12, s6, Dec 2006.
