Early Stage Lung Cancer: New Approaches to Evaluation and Treatment

Second Cambridge Conference - October 2004

This program was based on a conference of multidisciplinary leaders in lung cancer research and clinical care. The program developed content for a peer reviewed educational journal publication for medical oncologists and other medical professionals who wish to learn more about recent advances and future directions in the diagnosis and treatment of early-stage lung cancer.

The program was directed by Thomas J. Lynch, Jr., MD , Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center.

Educational Objectives
1) To understand important aspects of lung cancer screening and detection. 2) Review important clinical data for adjuvant therapies and their relevance to early-stage disease. 3) Assess current approaches to treating locally advanced disease.

The program was supported by educational grants provided by Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Genentech, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb/ImClone, Eli Lilly & Co., Millennium Pharmaceuticals, and Pfizer Oncology.

The conference proceedings were published as a peer-reviewed CME supplement to Clinical Cancer Research Vol 11. No 13 (Part 2). July 1 2005.

The CME activity based on the publication was effective July 2005 through July 2007.
