
Recent Advances and Future Directions in Endocrine Manipulation of Breast Cancer
Third Cambridge Conference - June 2003
This program was based on a conference of multidisciplinary leaders in breast cancer research and clinical care. The focus of the program was on basic and clinical research related to new endocrine agents.
This program was directed by Steven E. Come, MD, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Aman U. Buzdar, MD, MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Educational Objectives
1) Understand current concepts of estrogen receptor function and interactions between estrogen and non-estrogen cellular pathways; 2) understand mechanisms of action of present endocrine therapies and mechanisms of resistance to treatment; 3) optimize the use and sequence of endocrine therapies in early and advanced breast cancer; and 4) understand directions for future research in endocrine therapy and the role of promising preclinical and clinical models in this process.
