
Advancing Treatment of Bladder Cancer
CME Monograph - July 2008
This program is based on a multidisciplinary conference of leaders in bladder cancer research and clinical care. The program developed content for an educational monograph and position paper for oncologists, urologists and other medical professionals who assess, treat and counsel patients with bladder cancer. The monograph is published as an interactive online CME activity. The position paper will be submitted for publication to a leading oncology journal.
The program was directed by Colin P. N. Dinney, MD, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and Maha Hussain, MD, FACP, University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Educational Objectives
1) Assess appropriate use of systemic chemotherapy in the management of muscle invasive bladder cancer and 2) discuss optimal approaches to treating superficial bladder cancer, including BCG + interferon and addressing patients who fail BCG therapy.
